  • Condition: The lid is in excellent condition. The black lettering on the jar is in very good condition with minor wear. The jar has a large chip in the outer lip and many very tiny chips around the inside lip from the lid knocking around. See pictures.

    Description

    Nice vintage (but age unknown) glass Tom's Toasted Peanuts jar. This has the glass lid with red Tom's embossed knob. The jar stands 10" tall with the lid and 7 1/4" in diameter. The bottom is unmarked but has the round "circle". The black lettering is very nice with minor wear.
    The jar has some scratches and a large chip on the outer lip and many very tiny chips around the inside lip from the lid knocking around. The lid is VERY nice with no chips and minimal wear. There are also I am not an expert on these but did find this information on the web:
    "Tom's Jars came out in the early 1940's and lasted through the early 1950's. The Tom's jars with the name written in script, not in block like the 1930's Tom's jar, has Tom's and 5 cent on both sides of the jar.
    Tom's Peanut 5 Cent Black Jars with the Tom's In Script Were The Last 5 Cent black Jars Used and then Tom's came out with the Tom's Peanut Blue Jars."
