    Manufacturer
The firm started its production as a subsidiary of Zbrojovka Brno, based in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Zbrojovka Brno was later purely Czech based company with focus on production of firearms, cars and tractors. The company was bought by Slovak-Czech investment company J&T in 2007 when the company was shut down. The typewriter subsidiary, at the beginning adopted the name Zeta and started to manufacture the typewriters under the Remington license in 1932. The corporate name Consul first appeared on the typewriters in 1953. Consul was producing two types of typewriters in terms of size and which were made as semi-portable and standard models. The portable models have not been made. In year 1992, Zbrojovka Brno´s subsidiary adopted the corporate name Remagg. In that stage, Remagg was manufacturing only one type of typewriters until 1996, when Remagg ended its production because of bankruptcy.
The very same company, Consul or earlier´s name Zeta, was producing typewriters Commodore and Norwood, which were during 1950s and 1960s exported to the U.S. and Canada. Even Melbourne company called Pacific shipped in
    very good
typewriters - Consul. Czechoslovakia was facing hard communist era that time which is possible to observe on the typewriters. Typewriters are addressing some aspects of communism which is known for significant life service and these machines weigh more than they really should.
    Communist era
From February coup in 1948 the communist party got to govern Czechoslovakia. This communist era lasted for 41 years until 1989 when the Velvet revolution happened. The communism brought
    the iron curtains
for the Czechoslovakian region, which means that citizens were restricted from traveling, expressing their opinions against the political regime and mainly people had just very limited sources of goods and true information. Most of the products were produced only “good enough,” which refers to fact that everything was made completely just for its purpose and it did not have any additional functions (example; the block of flats without lift and balcons and just with one entrance). This past communist period was difficult time without any comfort but with high level of equality across the people.
    Investment
This typewriter belongs to the antiquities with significant historical value. The machine was made during the communist era in Czechoslovakia by well-known company for their quality products. The whole story behind this typewriter surely makes it rare which increases a potential for an increase of price in a few years. On the other hand it is a perfect thing for decorating your home or cottage thanks to its vintage and old-style design. The machine can also used for writing letters or documents which will add an additional feature to the words.
