Description

Here is a very rare Remington Rand Model 85 Bookkeeping Machine, which served as both a typewriter and adding machine at the same time.  Basically it is a predecessor to the computer.  The first version of these came out in the 1920s and this model was from the 1930s.  It is extremely heavy and sits on it's original stand, marked by Remington-Rand.  The only other version of this model and stand I could find is in the collection of the Smithsonian Institution - just Google it and you will find pictures of that one.  Electric motor with 6' cord on the back.  Metal spec. tag to side with serial number, etc.
CONDITION:  Appears to be fairly complete and good condition.  I don't believe it is operable as is, so you will need to clean it up and restore it.
PICKUP ONLY.  This piece is located at a warehouse just west of Philadelphia near Lansdowne, Pennsylvania.  If you can arrange pickup, great.  If you need to have it shipped, you will need to do all of the arranging through your shipper.  I will not crate this piece.  It is extremely heavy with the original base present (the machine simply sits in footings on the stand) and I cannot be responsible for transport.  Probably weighs south of 200 lbs. with stand.
