Prosecuted "Machine Gun" Jack McGurn-Believed Planned St. Valentine Day MassacreOffered is an unusual political re-election collection relating to the Chicago Mob in the 1930s. The collection consists of the Republican election of HARRY S. DITCHBURNE for States Attorney of Illinois. Included is a black ribbon with silver lettering, COOK COUNTY FOR LANDON KNOX 1936 attached to a metal bar with DITCHBURNE printed inside; a 3 x6 ballot filyer to vote for HARRY S. DITCHBURNE; and a rare Nov. 3, 1936 Presidential Republican ballot with LANDON/KNOX and a list of the other state candidates running on the Republican ticket. All in good condition and for the same bid.

HARRY S. DITCHBURNE was the Ass't Attorney General (1927-1933) who tried unsuccessfully to prosecute
"Machine Gun" Jack McGurn for planning the St. Valentine Day Massacre
Feb. 14, 1929. Jack McGurn was a known member of Al Capone's criminal organization based in Chicago.
