Handstitched Leather Steampunk Belt Bag Motorcycle Cosplay LARP SCA Masquerade

Although this is a steampunk themed leather belt bag, it is so clean and stylish looking that it could also be used for daily use. This bag is made from 6-7oz vegetable tanned (veg-tanned) cow hide leather that I hand dyed the main pieces a saddle tan color using a water stain dye specifically designed for leather, and i decided to dye the smaller accent and gusset pieces with a darker shade of light brown stain. This gave some nice contrast colors between the saddle tan and the light brown accent pieces giving the bag a stylish look. When I say that this bag is handcrafted, I mean that I made this bag by hand from start to finish. I hand choose the leather that is used in the construction of this bag. I then print out the pattern and applied it to the leather, and then hand punch all of the stitching holes, rivet holes, and the holes for the Sam Brown button placement. Next I carefully cut out all the leather pieces and carefully bevel and sand all the edges as needed. Then I hand stained all the pieces one at a time giving each piece several coats of the leather dye to ensure that not only an even color, but also to ensure that the dye has penetrated the leather completely. Once the dying process is completely dry, its time to start the assembly of the leather pieces. Most of the pieces of this leather bag were hand stitched together with brown colored waxed thread specially designed for hand stitching leather. The coolest part of the bag is the 3 piece center gusset. This gusset is what gives the bag its depth. The center gusset piece is stitched to the two outer gusset pieces using a special V stitch. This V stitch allows the entire completed gusset assembly compress and expand depending on what is being carried inside the bag. Once the gusset assembly has been assembled I stitched it to both the front and back pieces of the bag using a two needle saddle stitch which gives exceptional strength and durability to the hand stitched seams. The Front flap of the bag has had the two X crossed fastening straps stitched to it. Then the square shield piece and corner doubler's were riveted using gunmetal colored metal rivets to the front flap trapping the X straps into position.  The finished front flap is then saddle stitched to the top edge of the bag back piece. The back of the leather belt bag features two 1/2" leather belt loops that are looped through and trapped to the strap keepers that are stitched to the upper back of the bag. (see the photos) The front of the bag has two Sam Brown buttons attached at opposite lower corners of the bag front. I used medium strength thread locker on the retaining screws that affix the Sam Brown buttons. I do not like fittings and accessories attached to my leather products coming apart. That's the complete assembly process for the most part in making this hand made steampunk themed leather belt bag. I do hope I have not lost or bored anyone with my assembly description. My intent is to inform you my potential buyer of just what goes into making one of these leather bags. The finished product is a beautiful leather product that with proper care and some routine maintenance, this leather belt bag will last the wearer a very long time. As with any leather product there may be some small natural blemishes in the leather. As these are natural in nature they only add to the character and uniqueness of the leather product. Every leather bag that I make is made one at a time and no two are ever exactly alike. Hence you are getting a one of a kind leather bag that everyone that sees it will appreciate. Although this belt bag is steampunk themed, the style of the bag is very popular with motorcyclists as they can carry all their necessary items in a safe and secure location leaving their pockets empty and free of items which gives the rider a better experience while driving their motorcycle. However in addition as this is a steampunk themed item it will look great as an accessory for someone's steampunk costume which can or may be worn for Cosplay, LARP, SCA, and even masquerade events. As each of these leather bags take many hours of work to create,  the finished product makes it all worth it. This is heavy duty leather, 6-7oz which is about 2.5mm thick, which will last a very long time without wearing out not some import paper thin leather with a fabric filler and then some type of thin liner. These seams will never fail, and if for any reason one of my seams should ever fail during normal use I will fix or replace the product at my cost and expense for the lifetime of the item.
