BEACON CLOTH ROBE - 1930-1940s

Description

This is a unique robe made of Beacon cloth, with contrasting lapels and the original belt.
This is most likely from the 1930-1940s, but no guarantee; these were made from the 1920s through the 1960s by a variety of manufacturers using the Beacon cloth.
This one is unique in that it has contrasting material on the shawl collar and cuffs; most robes made of Beacon cloth don’t have this feature.
The robe is a plaid comprised of browns, cream and red with a solid maroon lapel and cuff ends.
The fabric content is not listed, but the plaid fabric is extremely soft and the maroon fabric is slightly coarser.
There is plenty of detail, with shawl collar, made of maroon that pairs well with the main fabric and the turned up cuffs.
The jacket has two patch pockets and one chest pocket and closes with the original belt.
Finally, there is piping along the outer collar, lapels, cuffs, side and bottom edges, and pockets.
The jacket is unlined, the edges are taped and it has no shoulder pads.
CONDITION:
Excellent, robe has light wear, with no holes.
May need to be aired
out due to a slight storage smell and then pressed or steamed.
