    Description

For bid is an original July 1940 San Francisco, California Golden Gate International Exposition GGIE advertising flier and foldout poster for an August 5, 1940 "Market Week Fashion Review at Billy Rose's Aquacade on Treasure Island."  The show was to be held at 8:30 PM.  Capwell's Department Store in Oakland was a major donor to the show.  This is an eight-panel foldout brochure that was mailed to a woman in Berkeley, California and then kept as a souvenir.  The interior 4 panels are a list: "Members of the Manufacturer and Wholesalers Association.  They were clothing makers: Hats, coats, suits, fashion styles, etc.  Levis, Strauss & Company is on the list.  Their denim clothing is LEGENDARY.  Their company was located at 98 Battery Street.  The event included a “floor show” and clothing displays, etc.
This is a great piece of GGIE advertising history from the World's Fair on the SF Bay.  Printed on thin, cheap paper.  Sent as a mailer.  The flier has some small tears and a few creases...
