    Description

1901 to 2001- In Memory of the "Father of wireless" and on its100th anniversary, Canada and Britain pay tribute to Guglielmo Marconi (1874-1937), on the first wireless transmission across the Atlantic. He did this on the inspiration in the works of Heinrich Hertz.
The United Kingdom two-pound coin features wireless waves in both the centre and outer border while a spark of electricity linking the zeros of the date generates a radiating series of three dots-the Morse code letter "S". The Canadian five-dollar coin recaptures the transmission of this signal from England to Canada where it envelops a cameo of Guglielmo Marconi.
The obverse of both coins features an Effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
